In November 2025, CARE conducted a trip to Zambia where we, together with healthcare professionals at Mpongwe Mission Hospital, deepened cooperation on children's rights issues and care.

Mpongwe Mission Hospital is a key health facility in Mpongwe District in Zambia’s Copperbelt Province. The hospital plays a central role in the health of the area by providing care for people with, among other things, malaria, HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and other diseases common in the region. It offers a reception, maternity care, laboratory services, pharmacy and HIV treatment support programmes – and is a crucial resource for both acute care and prevention work in the local population.

During our trip, we provided CPR training, held discussions about children's rights to care and safety, and analyzed care measures together with hospital staff. The aim was to listen to local needs, exchange experiences, and strengthen the joint work for children's health and participation in care.

The trip is an important step in CARE's long-term work to create sustainable improvements in pediatric healthcare - where care competence, partnership and responsiveness are in focus.
